‘When the Moon Was Full’ screened at Resistance filmfest

Iranian movie ‘When the Moon Was Full’ screened at the Resistance International Film festival.

Iranian award-winning movie ‘When the Moon Was Full’ has been screened on the sixth day of the Resistance International Film festival.

Directed by Narges Abyar, the film has been nominated for awards in three sections of the 16th edition of the event.

The movie narrates the true love story of Abdul-Hamid Rigi, a member of the Jundallah terrorist group.

Rigi marries Faezeh Mansouri, a woman from Tehran.

Faezeh is forced to leave her homeland along with her brother, Shahab, to live in Pakistan where they find themselves involved in the Jundallah rebel activities.

The Rigi brothers were arrested by Iranian security forces and were executed in 2010.

Elnaz Shakerdoust, Houtan Shakiba, Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaee, and Shabnam Moqaddami are among the cast members of the film.

The movie was nominated in 13 categories at the 37th Fajr Film Festival and garnered six main Awards of the event, including Best Director, Best Film, Best Leading Actor (Shakiba), Best Leading Actress (Shakerdoust), Best Supporting Actress (Sadr-Orafaee), and Best Makeup.

It also brought the Best Actress award to Shakerdoust, Best Student Jury Film Award and Grand Prize at the 2nd International Political Film Festival of Carcassonne in France.

The annual Resistance festival is an attempt to commemorate the anniversary of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, which is known as the “Sacred Defense” in Iran. To this end, the event runs in two different stages. The first one took place during the Sacred Defense Week from September 21 to 28 in Tehran.

The second part of the festival, which is covering "Main Competition", "Resistance Prominent Martyr - Special Section", "Best Film Competition in Absolute Sense" and "Narrations of Pen - Scriptwriting Competition", inaugurated on November 21 and is currently underway in online format until November 27, 2020.
